Yesterday, I did the Walk For Breast Cancer. It wasn’t exactly a 5k, but then again I’m not sure how long it was. It was really fun. The weather just started really cooling off this week-60 degrees when I left the house! I even think it started to get colder as the day went by. But, I was totally warm because over 12,000 people showed up to do the Walk! That’s not even counting the unregistered people like me! It might have been around 15,000 people there by the time it started. We were all in a ginormous gaggle in the Mall parking lot, that’s where the walk started, and you could feel everyone’s body heat as though it were a mile long blanket. There were so many people around me and my mom and brother, we could hardly even move at first. Just shuffling our feet like old people. After a couple of minutes, it started to thin out and we could stretch out our legs.

Everybody was wearing pink because, you know, pink is the Breast Cancer colour. I had on neon pink triangle earrings, crazy pink watermelon flavored lip gloss a pink v-neck shirt, pink Adidas shorty-shorts, two different pink bracelets that say Breast Cancer on them, a pink knit jacket, and some mostly grey but have a pink Nike sign on them sneakers. I was the Pink Masquerader! We even got my hesitant brother to wear a pink sweatshirt. The coolest part was that the route the walk was on was in the shape of the ribbon so from the sky you could see this big, moving pink ribbon. I wonder if they ever took any pictures of it or even if they planned it that way!

We finished the walk not at the beginning or the end, we were right kind of in the middle of it. I didn’t time it, but I think it took about 45 minutes to do the Walk. I seriously can not believe I forgot my camera, again. It’s not even funny this time. I’m going to have to strap it to my arm next time or something! My next walking excursion will be, I think, a Christmas Parade Marathon, but, for one, I’m not sure if the parade people are even doing that this year and two, I might even find something a little closer to now because Christmas is sooo far away!

WE HAVE FOUND JESUS! That just cracks me up! I live in such a religious town, we get those kinds of people at my door about once a week!

I just thought of something funny a kid in my Language Arts class said yesterday. My teacher was laying down the law for the new nine weeks, so she was talking about how we should take our reading logs seriously. I don’t find reading to be a problem because I love it so much, but some kids can’t stand it! Right after the teacher talked about what counts as “reading”, one of the guys raised his hand and asked,

“If we’re watching a movie and turn on the subtitles and read those, can we put that down on our reading logs?”

The whole class busted out laughing because this teacher likes to be super-serious. She hardly ever laughs during class. When he said that, her face turned as purple as an eggplant, she was so mad! That just made it even funnier.

Yesterday was the start of the new second nine weeks grading period. I am so excited because…I got straight A’s! This is a really big surprise because I could’ve swore I was getting a B if not a C in Algebra. How did I get an A in Band, too? I, like, didn’t even turn in all my practice sheets! I think it was our concert last week that bumped up my grade. One more amazement, I got a 103 (What the heck!?) in History, my least favorite subject. This year is turning out alot better than I thought it would! 27 Weeks to go!

Is anyone more excited than me about the new season of The Walking Dead?!? I didn’t think so!

How often do you really see an apocalypse show that lasts more than 6 episodes? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one as good as this. I was so mad when Dale died at the end of the last season. He was my favorite character! I always thought he was the most rational out of the entire group. Now, the best character is defintiely Carl, the little boy. Great child actor! And when Shane died, I thought, how are they even going to make another season? They just killed one of the main characters! I’m in the middle of watching the marathon right now, so I decided to share my anticipation with you. The new season starts tonight at 9/8central on AMC (Ha! You Dish-networkers!).

I have a new project that I’m going to start today. Now since the weather is starting to get cooler, I’m going to be outside all of the time. I thought a cool thing to do would be to fix up my back shed. So far it’s just been this little messy room where my family keeps all of their garden tools and weird things like that. My idea for it because nobody ever goes back there is to transform it into a little quiet place for me. I’ll do things like paint in peace or do my homework. It will be fabulous!

The cat cries at the back screen door

He thinks, What are you playing this sick game for?

I’ve just put the flea stuff all over his skin

Now he wants to go out instead of staying in

He rubs up against my leg,

His big, almond eyes are starting to beg

Oh, please, Oh, please, Won’t you let me out?

I can almost see his lips forming a pout

He meow meow meows in a pleading way

When all he wants to do is run about and play

Then he sits down to come up with an excuse

Probably thinking, This is animal abuse!

Just when I think he’s calmed down a bit

Soon he’s off on another fit

I can barely concentrate with him staring at me

All I can think is What a poor kitty

At last I hear a Ding! and the treatment is done

Now my flealess kitty can finally have some fun

Ugh! I was getting tired of that old theme. It was too gray for me. I really, really like this one though so I think it’s going to be much more permanent. Its called San Kloud and its very clear and I like how the widgets are back on the side of the page.

Ta-Ta!

Yesterday, I participated in my first 5k! It was so active and physical! It was for the American Heart Association, one of my favorite foundations ever because of all the good they do. The Heart Walk 5k was located at the University of West Florida, which has a huge campus and is just perfect for walking around. When I got there, there were a few hundred people, if not a thousand, all ready to get to the finish line first. It wasn’t technically a “race”, but it still felt like one to some people like me. But, for the walkers like my mom, though, they were probably thinking about what it would have been like to sleep in. The walk started at 8:30, so that was totally normal for me to be up and about by then, but my mom almost chickened out since she thought it was too early. That was until I forced her from her bed and into the kitchen for some verycoffee to wake her up. The walk itself was free but, people were encouraged to make donations so, me and my mom made one for $25.

I can not believe how perfect the weather was for this. All this past week, the temperature has been in the 80’s but, it was like the sky knew there was going to be a walk so it got down into the low 70’s. Love-ly! Also, there was a 0% chance of rain so it was nice and sunny, too. The walk was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I didn’t even get tired or sweaty or anything! It was like a walk in the park! We finished the race kind of near the end, but not too bad. We really started sprinting at the end though because if we hadn’t then the end result would have been quite sad…no offense to the turtles.

When everybody was done with the end of the race, they had little booths set up where like, you could sign up to be a volunteer for other events and buy T-shirts. I going to think about being a volunteer because it sounds like it could be really fun and something for the community. There was also a booth where people were handing out Subway sandwiches so to finish off our race, me and my mom had a picnic and we got to say hi to some of our friends who were also doing the Walk. It was a really fun experience.

Next time there’s a race, I’m going to be running the whole time and I’m going to be one of the first people at the end of it. Also, I’m going to try to join a team of some sort because 90% of the people in the 5k had these team t-shirts on and I think it sounds cool. I’m thinking of starting my own team for my middle school and I bet I could get a few people to join it. The next walk I’m doing is the 27th and that one’s for Breast Cancer. I can’t wait for that!

Just for a short post today since I’ll be busy this afternoon, I want to share with you some interesting music selections from my MP3 Player. I’m currently into alot of Alternative/Punk Rock Music.

I cannot get enough of Walk The Moon and their self-titled album,

My two favorite songs are Anna Sun and Quesadilla.

Secondly, Graffiti6 and their release called Colours

Aaaaaaah! Last night I went to the Rave Movie Theatre with my mummy (Halloween Pun!) and we saw the scariest movie ever together. It was The Exorcist-BUM BUM BUM!!! Wow, when you’re in a near-empty theatre, dark as a closed closet, having the scariest film ever produced flash before your eyes, you’re bound to pee your pants. I bet if I hadn’t seen that movie 5 times before, I definitely would’ve because-whew-that was something! My mother and I both agreed that the scariest part of the whole movie was right after they learned the mom’s boyfriend died, the girl came down the stairs like a crab and, like, if your queasy don’t read this next part, but, like, blood started gushing out of her mouth. That was when I screamed so loud in the middle of the movie. It’s scary just to think of it!

This marks the beginning of the Holiday Season! First Halloween, then Thanksgiving and before you know it, people’ll be smooching under the Mistletoe! But, let’s keep it to Halloween for now. I’m going to be watching scary movies like crazy this month! I wanted to give you guys some reccomendations, or, otherwise, my personal favorites. They’re not in any order either, but I will admit, The Exorcist is my all-time favorite right next to The Omen (Either version is good).

1. The Good Son

2. Child’s Play

3. The Possession-I saw this in the theatre a few weeks ago, it was pretty good if you haven’t seen it.

4. Poltergeist

5. Pet Semetary-Spine-Chilling Fun!

6. The Ring

7. Freddy Kruger/Nightmare On Elm Street

8. Silence of the Lambs

9. Evil Dead

10. The Shining

11. 28 Days Later

12. The Sixth Sense-I see dead people!

13. Saw

14. Texas Chainsaw Massacre

15. Halloween

16. Ju-on (It’s in Japanese so it has subtitles)

17. Misery

18. Carrie

19. Children of the Corn

20. The Birds

21. Rosemary’s Baby

The one movie that I really want to see that I haven’t this season is Paranormal Activity. My parents think it sounds stupid but I’m going to force them to rent it for me from Blockbuster or something!

What are your favorite scary movies of all-time? Are there any I forgot?

A Marching Band

Yesterday, my school had our first pep rally of the school year! I heard about it last week when I learned that my band was playing as the Pep Band!!! I had been wanting to do this ever since 6th grade. It was like being in a marching band.

At the beginning of 6th period, all the band students we’re called to the band room to get their instruments and go to the gym, where the pep rally was being held, (Yes! I got to miss Algebra!). Then we practiced our two songs, Never Scared and 25 or 6 to 4 and we sounded better than we had all year! All the band kids we’re so excited!…but, not many other people.

When it got around to 7th period and we had our whole routine down, they started calling kids into the gym. Wow, they looked like zombies walking into the room! Like they wanted to be anywhere else but there. Then the band came to the rescue! When we started playing our music, everybody started dancing and jumping around. It was as if they’d all been struck by lightning.

Once all the kids were seated, the pep rally really started. The cheerleaders did their amazing dance routines and everyone went crazy! Our school’s cheerleaders are probably the best in the county this year. Afterwards, Coach Lewis announced all of the people who were on the basketball teams. I think the boy who got the most applause was either James Howard or Marcus (I forgot his last name). Then came the, ahem, UNDEFEATED Girls’ Team. I couldn’t tell who got the most claps because all of them are really popular. Just so you know, basketball is, like, the thing at my school. We have games every Monday and Thursday and honestly, I’ve never actually been to one. But, I’ve really been thinking about going lately, I just don’t know who to go with since I don’t think I could go by myself and still know how it works.

I think that’s it. Usually, more stuff happens like when the teachers play basketball and the mascot dances around but I think they cut that out because it was only one period instead of two. Hopefully the next one will be longer.
