Today I spent an hour sitting in the Dance Room at school. The Dance Room is a part of the gym, although I don’t know why they call it that because as far as I know, we don’t have a dance team or anything. The reason for skipping Band and the majority of Science class is that I was picking my electives for High School!!!!
The way it worked was everybody going to Washington HS (me!) went to the Dance Room because there were so many of us and all the other 8th graders went to the library. Then one of the Head Ladies started picking groups of students to go to work with the counselers, and of course I was picked last. But, that gave me the chance to hang out with my future classmates. One was this kid named Jason who wore red pants and a vintage Pepsi shirt. Super-Rad!
The electives I wanted most were Jazz Band, Regular Band, Spanish and Drama. The lady, who looked retired and very sweet said, “Oh! Well, you must be a Fine Arts person!” To which I replied, “Of course!” because I am! Anyway, she said I would probably get all of my classes I wanted except, maybe, for Jazz Band because it’s so popular, so I might get into P.E. Bleh! But the awesome part is it will be the only P.E. class I have to take because if I stay in Band all for years, that makes up the rest of the credits!
I’ll probably end up knowing what I get maybe at the end of the year, but most likely over the summer. Can’t wait!
Well, 8th grade started last Monday…And it was awesome!!! I have classes with some of the best people ever! Though I have to admit, my best friend last year, I don’t have any classes with her, so that was kind of sad, but, I still see her in the hallways and such. This is my scheldule:
Homeroom & 1st: Adv. U.S. History
2nd: Symphonic Band
3rd: Adv. Science
4th: All-Girls Chorus
6th: 9th Grade Algebra! (That’s right, high school credit, here I come!!)
7th: 6th Grade Math Gaming?!? (Well, that’s a leap. Thank God I’m not the only 8th grader there.)
8th: Adv. Language Arts
So much happened this week, that if I put it into this one post, it could easily surpass 5,000 words, (I’m already up to 130!) So, starting next Monday, I’ll start to really fill you in on the details. Maybe I’ll do it tonight or tommorrow, but I doubt it.
