Yesterday morning, my mom and I got up bright and early in the cool, 62 degrees morning to finally plant our plants that had been sitting in those Lowe’s plastic bags for the past two weeks. Thank goodness they didn’t die! We have an assortment of green, red, and orange bell peppers, aloe vera plants, dill, cilantro, basil, lots of pink and purple and orange flowers, strawberries, tomatoes, red hot chile peppers that I picked out myself because nobody else wanted them, and chamomile that I planted from seeds. It was so fun and relaxing. Too bad I didn’t have a tree to plant for Earth Day, but I think I did good enough!
Who knew aloe vera plants spread like wildfire?! We started out with one and now we have about 8!
These were planted in a special strawberry pot with holes in the sides of it. But the first time I picked up the pot, full of dirt, by the holes, the top broke off from the bottom! Lesson learned.

A couple of weeks ago, I started growing a dill plant straight from the seed! I almost never start from a seed, and when I do, it usually doesn’t work. I’m so excited! I have a bunch of other seeds for different plants that I’m going to start to grow this afternoon. They’re easy things like other spices, microgreens, strawberries, and of course flooooooooowers! Starting a garden really makes it feel like Spring!

This one of the easiest pretzel recipes I’ve seen in a long time. Everyone should have a homemade pretzel at some point in their life. They’re just so classic! My idea would be to make a big, gigantic bunch of these and take them to a picnic at a park or something of the sort.

Yesterday I shared with you the buffalo wings that we had for our appetizer supper. They were awesome, but we also had a soft pretzel with cheese sauce on the side. Equally delicious.
I have been planning to try these for a while. A tattered piece of paper with this recipe on it sat in my kitchen for months. It happens, I tear items out of magazines and throw them into a holding pattern for months at a time, waiting until the “perfect” moment, or most likely when it happens to fall in front of my eyes again during a cleaning spell.

Last night, when my brother was at Boy Scouts, me and my dad went fishing off of this pier near our Downtown area. We had two fishing poles and a type of net that you drop off into the ocean and then when you pull it up you have a chance of catching something.
The first time we used the net, it didn’t have any bait on it. While we were waiting to bring up the net, we used our fishing poles and then realized it would be near impossible to catch anything because we were using the wrong kind of bait, (Eels instead of shrimp!). After we put the poles away, we brought up the net for the first time. Nothing.
My dad had brought little pieces of chicken to tie onto the net so we tried that. We lugged up the net and caught a little soft shell crab, which are everywhere in Florida. We picked it up in the net and dropped it back into the water.
We did it one more time to see if we could catch a fish. Instead, we pulled up the biggest crab I’d ever seen! We got it out of the net and let it scurry around the pier for some time, snapping it’s claws at us when we wagged our fingers in its’ face. Finally when we decided to set it free, we tried to get the crab into the net, but it would not get in it! Scared that the crab might get run over by the cars driving down the pier, my dad picked it up in his index and thumb finger. Just as he was walking to the ledge, it bit him! (By “bit” I mean pinched him with its’ claws, we just call it a bite.) This caused my dad to slam the crab on the ground out of reflex. Afterwards, I think the crab was kind of stunned since he was still alive and moving, but he was much more eager to get in the water again. Now, my dad has a huge chunk of his thumb missing,
It was my dad’s birthday last Wednesday, so me, my brother and my mom made him a cake. A strawberry lemon cake, to be precise. Now I will teach you how to make this elegant dessert.
For the cake I just used a Betty Crocker mix of Lemon Cake and followed the box directions.
Home-Made Cream Cheese Icing:
2 Packages of Philidephia Low Fat Cream Cheese
1 Stick of Butter (or 1/4 of a cup)
A medium to large bowl
A Stirring utensil such as a whisk
Directions, Put cream cheese and butter into the bowl and stir until well blended. Spread icing mixture onto the top of the cake. Place strawberries all over the place. Slice into pieces and serve. This cake is good hot or cold, I would prefer cold, though.

What can I do with all of my yogurt cups?
I love yogurt. It’s pretty close to the top of my list for best foods in the entire world, right next to hummus and pita bread. In the future, when I get my own living area that’s not my parents house, I can see myself almost living off of yogurt.
But, what am I going to do with those cups of plastic? You’re probably thinking, “Just recycle them!”. The thing is, they seem like they could be used for something more… useful. So, I sat around and thought while I ate my yogurt. Here’s what I came up with!
